Apposition

Apposition: When you extend the subject (i.e. add a description, job title etc), it is known as “apposition”. If the description comes after the name,  put a comma both before and after the descriptive phrase/job title.

e.g. Mr Jones, a leading spokesperson for  the plastics industry, told us that recycling was for losers.

Prof. Hearney, a researcher at the World Bank, claimed that her paper proved the euro could not survive without change.
