Starting a sentence with therefore is rarely the best choice. Therefore is a strong word that demands rigorous adherence to a line of reasoning. It is almost mathematical, and is therefore a good fit for syllogisms, but otherwise should usually be used later in the sentence as I have just done here. As for those syllogisms, here is a famous one:
All humans are mortal;
Socrates is human;
Therefore, Socrates is mortal.
But, as you can see, the therefore is used almost like a mathematical symbol here.
