Thus

Thus does not mean so. So don't use it thus.

Thus basically means "in this way" (Lift your foot up thus, and wiggle it about...thus).

It may also mean "with the following result" (He stopped caring and thus lost the will to live).

Notice that in both cases thus is an adverb that belongs to (modifies) the verb (thus-lost and lift up-thus), and in the preceding sentence (don't use it thus), it modifies the verb use. It is not a  conjunction, and only rarely looks good at the top of a sentence. If you want that sort of link at the beginning of a sentence, try Accordingly, As a result, Consequently or  So instead
